My go-to Green Smoothies

I have two go-to Green Smoothies.  I make a variety of green smoothies, and I just found some new recipes that I want to try (here, here, and here). But, these are the two different recipes that I make if I’m in a hurry. Or, if we haven’t been to the store recently, I know that I most likely have these ingredients available.

Two blender-fulls of these recipes give us smoothies for a day: Two 20-oz. bottles for me to drink at work (one for morning and one for mid-afternoon), 20-oz. for Michelle, and 10-oz. for each of the three kids.

Brian’s APM Recipe

The Avocado-Pineapple-Mango version:

green-smoothie-1

~ Fill each blender to the “Y” in Dairy or Non-Dairy with a mix of Almond Milk and Water (usually 50/50)

~ Add three handfuls of Kale, three handfuls of Spinach, a sliced carrot, and half an AVOCADO

~ Also, if I have it, and it’s frozen, I’ll add a small handful of Arugula (non-frozen the flavor overwhelms)

~ Add three teaspoons of Chia Seeds and two teaspoons of Bee Pollen and then blend a couple of times to make room for the rest of the ingredients.  If you use bee pollen, be careful about allergic reactions.  Make sure you follow the label directions and work up to a teaspoon or more.

~ Add some Agave and some local Honey (the honey is more for allergy prevention than taste)

~ Add about two cups of diced, frozen PINEAPPLE and MANGO mix from Sam’s Club

~ Add some more water in the top and blend very, very well so it’s nice and smooth  😀

Brian’s ABB Recipe

The Apple-Banana-Blueberry version:

green-smoothie-2

~ Fill each blender to the “Y” in Dairy or Non-Dairy with a mix of Almond Milk and Water (usually 50/50)

~ Add three handfuls of Kale, three handfuls of Spinach and a sliced carrot

~ Also, if I have it, and it’s frozen, I’ll add a small handful of Arugula (non-frozen the flavor overwhelms)

~ Add three teaspoons of Chia Seeds and two teaspoons of Bee Pollen and then blend a couple of times to make room for the rest of the ingredients.  If you use bee pollen, be careful about allergic reactions.  Make sure you follow the label directions and work up to a teaspoon or more.

~ Add some Agave and some local Honey (the honey is more for allergy prevention than taste)

~ Add one sliced, sweet APPLE (I like Gala, Fuji, or Sonya apples). I split the apple between the two smoothies.

~ Add one large BANANA to each smoothie (preferably frozen but doesn’t have to be) and about 1.5 cups of frozen BLUEBERRIES from Sam’s Club to each smoothie

~ Add some more water in the top and blend very, very well so it’s nice and smooth  😀
